A Picture Is Worth (A Thousand Words)

This wasn't the unique blog name I hoped it'd be, Blogger informed me, when every natural-sounding variant of this name I've chosen (in an attempt to blend my writing and photography together) was already used. But that's okay. I don't need to be unique. I just need to be myself.

I am a wife, a mother, a speech-language pathologist, a wannabe writer, and a wannabe photographer, too.

I drink chai tea lattes hot even on 90 degree days and I sunburn after about 5 seconds in the sun (okay, fine... maybe 10 minutes). I wish I kept in better touch with friends near and far. I like social media for that. I have amazing friends locally and farther away. I'm getting better at letting go of the ones who are less amazing. I love to read.

I struggle a lot because I consider myself a Christian and believe in God but I don't take the Bible terribly literally, which is apparently somewhat rare in these parts- or at least in my Facebook feed. I like science a lot. I think it's cool and it doesn't deter my faith at all. (Mean Christians are pretty good at deterring people's faith everywhere.) I'm also not very conservative from a social / political standpoint and wind up feeling like I don't fit anywhere because of it. Even though I actually think there are more people like myself than not, these days.

Like most women my age, I struggle with trying to balance my family and work and life in general.

I really, really love taking pictures.

Thanks for stopping by.
